AI for Impact Programme FAQ
What is AI for Impact programme?
AI for Impact is a free initiative that allows people to get trained in AI skills. The goal is to learn how to apply AI in different impact areas for the common good: Getting participants ready to leverage AI directly to their own projects. The programme brings together innovators in AI, the civil society and the public sector with the aim of creating and developing practical AI solutions and prototypes.
Who can join the “AI for Impact” programme?
Anyone who wants to become AI-ready, or is curious about how AI is leveraged for the common good can join “AI for Impact”. The programme will benefit you if you work for the public sector, an NGO, or if you are part of the civil society. We’ll teach you foundational AI skills from scratch, so anyone can follow along.
What will I learn in the “AI for Impact” programme?
In 5 different chapters you will learn various AI skills such as using AI with your own data, generating videos or images, or even how to implement it in your organisation, among other skills. You’ll touch upon different AI topics in the context of five social impact areas: Inclusion, Democracy, Climate, Education, Health.
In the second part you will be able to access deep dive courses on different topics brought by our challenge partner organisations such as “Circular Economy & AI”. You will gain tangible skills in understanding and applying AI to projects and challenges inside your organisation.
Previous programme participants used their newly gained skills to create a social listening tool for TikTok, and used AI to help Berlin citizens find relevant social services.
Do I need to pay anything?
No, our programme is entirely free. We want to equip people working in the public sector and in civil society with the skills to drive positive change. That is why the AI for Impact programme is free to join.
Besides the learning videos, the programme also gives you access to learning materials from our partners at Microsoft, mentorship opportunities with highly skilled professionals from Capgemini, as well as the chance to connect with industry leaders from our N3XTCODER expert network.
What languages are the courses in?
We have created 2 versions of the programme, one in German and one in English. So you can select the language that you feel more comfortable with.
Who can join the programme?
Everyone, absolute beginners are also welcome! All you need is curiosity, a computer, and around 20 minutes each week to get trained into the basics of each chapter and get your certificate.
We release new content every week, so make sure to follow us on LinkedIn and Instagram for programme updates.
From where can I join the programme?
The programme is fully online, so you can join from anywhere.
I’ve finished a chapter. What now?
After each chapter, you will have the chance to take a short quiz to test the skills you have learned. After completion you will get a certificate issued by N3XTCODER and Microsoft directly via email. You can share your certificate and badge directly on your LinkedIn profile, CV or even embed it in your email signature.
If you want to learn more about each of the topics, you also have extra resources available from Microsoft with more free courses.
Moreover, we provide materials from our partners such as Capgemini, and some external materials that our team have put together for you to continue learning.
What happens after the completion of the course?
After you have completed all 5 chapters you will be able to join the Deep Dive courses that we are preparing in collaboration with our partners, such as “Circular Economy & AI”.
The completion of any of these Deep Dive courses will give you the opportunity to join the second phase of our programme, where you can collaborate with a team to create real AI impact solutions to real-world challenges provided by our partners such as Berlin Recycling.
What is a challenge partner?
A challenge partner is an organisation from the impact sector that has an internal problem or challenge that has to be solved, and wants to apply AI to do it. The challenge partner works together with us to make their case ready.
In the second phase of the programme, several teams of skilled participants will be working together to develop AI prototypes that can be later implemented by the organisation. If your organisation wants to solve any challenge as a part of our programme, get in touch with us and we will work on it together.

I am interested in using the course to train the people in my organisation, how can I do it?
We know how important it is to upskill your team and to be ready for new challenges. This is why our course is designed to be taken by people with any background or skill level. The course will allow you to make your team AI-ready, at the same time they will learn how AI can be applied to impact topics with positive outcomes. Learning practical skills and solutions.
