We have launched the AI for Impact programme with our partner Microsoft to help people in the public sector and civil society benefit from the AI revolution to address the major challenges of our time.

In 5 chapters, with further optional deep dives, we will provide you with basic knowledge, we will teach you practical skills, and we’ll show you the potential of AI with examples from real social impact projects and initiatives:

Chapter 1:
Applying and Understanding AI - Inclusion

Learn how AI can be used to reduce inequalities, to lower barriers to participation, and to support marginalised communities. In this chapter you’ll learn how to interact with common language-based AIs, and then how to enter a prompt and edit it. You’ll also practise perfecting, saving and reusing prompts. Then we’ll explore different AI tools, such as ChatGPT from OpenAI, Gemini from Google, Llama from Meta, and Claude from Anthropic. We’ll also explain how to choose and then to use the right AI model for you.

Chapter 2:
Generating Texts, Images, and Videos - Democracy

Explore how you can use AI to create content and positively influence social discourse. In this chapter you'll learn how to create better text with the help of AI tools. We'll show you how to analyze text with AI, and even recognize AI-generated text with the help of so-called AI detectors. You will also learn how to generate and analyze images and videos with AI.

Chapter 3:
Using Your Own Data for AI - Climate

Discover how to connect AI with your own documents and databases, so you can use AI with more accurate and up-to-date information. In this chapter we'll show you how to integrate AI into your personal knowledge management. We’ll then show you how you can use artificial intelligence on your smartphone, and also how you can use AI without an internet connection.

Chapter 4:
Setting Up AI Assistants - Education

Develop AI-powered processes and assistants to enhance learning and to support lifelong education. In this chapter you’ll learn what AI assistants and AI agents are, and you will develop your own free AI assistant for your organization. You’ill learn how to integrate automation tools, how to fine-tune AI models and how to set up an AI interface for your own organization.

Chapter 5:
Deploying AI Chatbots - Health

Create your own chatbots and digital assistants. In this final chapter you’ll learn how to clone your voice, and to create a video avatar of yourself. You’ll then learn how to publish your avatar with your voice as an AI video chatbot.
