This webinar is part of our "State of Responsible AI" webinar series, giving you a compact overview every two months of the most pressing challenges and opportunities of artificial intelligence. Technical and societal developments are moving so fast right now that it is hard to keep up. That is exactly where we come in: we meet you where you are, provide orientation, and show you concretely how to use AI responsibly without compromising on quality. With state-of-the-art open source technology, hosted on renewable energy in Europe. Whether you work at a startup, an NGO or a small or medium-sized enterprise, or want to use AI as a private individual.
We look at where AI is already having a profound societal impact today. In doing so, we follow the approaches of Polycrisis & Multisolving: AI does not intensify crises in isolation, but in interconnected ways. The enormous energy consumption of AI data centres drives climate change, while AI-powered disinformation undermines democracies and the labour market is being transformed by waves of layoffs. We view these crises not in isolation but as an interconnected system, and ask how AI can act as a lever for systemic solutions.
That is why we have structured the webinar as follows: first we address the societal impact, because before diving deeper into the technology we need to understand what is at stake. Jonas Wegener shows that "digital first, concerns later" may not be such a good idea when it comes to AI. Only afterwards do we look at the technical foundations and concrete tools for responsible AI.
