We have teamed up with Freie Universität Berlin, Beuth University of Applied Sciences Berlin, Einstein Center Digital Future, University of Bremen and The Association for Digitisation in the Social Economy sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. Together we join forces at this online Datathon to design better care with the help of Artificial Intelligence!

Work with unique data-sets on solutions with our strong partners such as Charité Geriatrie, Health Capital, Hacking Health, N3XTCODER, VisionHealthPioneers, and industry experts such as “mit-pflege-leben”, better-at-home, inHaus, AssistMe and AWS. The winning team is selected by a top-class jury and will have the opportunity to further develop their project with the support of AWS, Health Capital, N3XTCODER and Vision Health Pioneers.

The Mission

This online Datathon is designed to further build your idea/project or service and transform it into a tangible solution (MVP). We will help to build your interdisciplinary expert dream team on this day! Bringing Nursing Care, Data Scientist, Healthcare Experts, Developers, Designers and passionate changemakers in your team! You will be supported by capable Mentors from all these areas. We focus on the future of digital nursing care. Problem areas that we have identified and that your idea/project should tackle:

1. Better needs based care
2. Better care for those with mental and emotional health issues as well as well-being in an aging society
3. Better care for people with impaired cognitive and communicative abilities or mental health problems as well as well-being in an aging society
4. Fairer placement of care personnel and resources

Guiding questions

• How can a combination of sensor-based information be used to create new insights for caregivers?
• How can people in need of care be given the opportunity to live a self-determined life in their home for longer?
• How can older people stay fit for longer or preventatively improve their fitness during operations etc.?

The Data

We teamed up with major leaders in the care industry to work with unique data. Learn more about the provided data sets and receive first hand information at our Data Meetup on Tuesday July 21 2020 at 11 am

Our partners Insitu, Charité Geriatrie, AssistMe and “mit pflege leben” providing unique data sources to build your application on. You can expect various rich datasets such as:

Multivariate Sensor Data from a Large University Hospital and a Smart Home Company

Data is collected from sensors measuring blood sugar, bladder fullness and pulse on a per-patient basis. Additional sensor data for patient lying position and step counts enrich this data set.

Care Coordination Data from Two Major Care Platforms

InSitu connects care personnel with institutions in need based on place of operation, qualification, shift, day of the week and more. To enable the unique opportunity to work with the sensitive data without risking identification of real users, we will provide you with an interface for remote computations.

Values and Scores from Medical Documentation

We will provide you with access to measures such as pain scores, nutritional care and mental well being records.

We will make the data available through API´s, Json or CSV files for easy access. More information will be announced soon.

Datathon Results

The datathon should help to understand the usability of representative data from the care sector for your solution. A good outcome on the day would be concrete solutions to one or more of the problem statements as mentioned above. This includes but is not limited to:

• Innovative #AI supported healthcare solutions
• Digital prototypes and landing pages with comprehensive graphs /designs
• Other prototypes and proofs of concept
• Concepts of non-digital and digital solutions

How to join and win the Hackathon

This Hackathon is for you if ...

• You are an individual (Data Scientist; Patient; Nursing or Healthcare Expert; Hacker; Developer; Designer; Digital Marketer; passionate Changemaker) with the ambition, skills and expertise to bring such a solution / concept into reality!
• You are a Project Owner / Team with a solution / concept that can answer one or more of the missions described.
• Or you want to support as an experienced facilitator to make sure our teams achieve the best outcome possible!

Either way you become part of an interdisciplinary team bringing together innovators, data specialists, mentors & entrepreneurs that aims to tackle one or more of the above mentioned problems.

At the Datathon a top-class jury consisting of experts in the field of science, nursing, technology and politics/society will evaluate the solutions developed.

The possibilities do not end after the Datathon – the winning team will have the opportunity for an extended support phase with N3XTCODER and the #AI4Care partner network: Health Capital, Vision Health Pioneers Incubator, Amazon Web Services, Freie Universität Berlin, AssistMe, Copenhagen Business School, GI FG Digital Health

• Receive tailored tech support from N3XTCODER. During the support phase in August and September 2020 we will organize personal coaching and product meetings with the #AI4Care partners mentioned above
• Get access to the AWS network and receive AWS credits and first class consulting support – And win the Amazon Deep Racer
• Learn about public funding from Health Capital and benefit from their partner network and expertise
• Receive a wildcard for participation in the 9-month Vision Health Pioneers Incubator. With this wildcard, the team reaches the final selection of teams to be included in the incubator’s scholarship program.

The scholarship holders receive:

• Financial support in the amount of 2.000 Euro/month
• Relevant knowledge you need for your project in the form of workshops and individual 1on1 sessions, comprehensive support from mentors and coaches
• Access to a broad network of experts, companies and institutions and a workstation in the incubator’s own Co-Working Space

Requirements All collaboration will take place online. You will need a headset and webcam and an internet connection fit for video calls and screensharing (in doubt, use a cable, like they did in the 90s). The hackathon will take place in Discord. Installing the Discord app is required.

About our Partners

The research project aims to develop the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in nursing. The project explores needs, application scenarios, prerequisites, framework and success conditions for research and development in the field of AI in nursing. The aim is the development of a concept for the embedding of AI systems in care, taking into account the perspectives of various stakeholder groups. Although digital technologies themselves have been increasingly developed and researched for application in nursing practice for several years now, the international literature on AI systems has so far mainly focused on research on robotic systems. For the application of AI systems, e.g. for complex decision support in nursing, there seems to be a largely unused potential. In addition, the application of AI may have a special potential to support nursing staff in activities remote from the patient. Also of interest are application scenarios for the direct support of people in need of care themselves and their relatives, for which test experiences of AI systems from different settings have been available for several years. However, to what extent these solutions are suitable for practical use and meet the special requirements of care has not yet been sufficiently researched. The project aims to promote interdisciplinary collaboration and provide best practice examples that strengthen a community approach and contribute to raising awareness of AI systems in nursing in the professional and practical community.
