About the project

Associations sit on enormous knowledge bases – policy, regulation, member archives – and small operating teams. AI for associations means making that knowledge findable for members, surfacing the right resources at the right moment, and triaging inbound enquiries so the secretariat focuses on relationships, not lookup work. We have shipped this for the German Insurers Association (GDV), a leading German association and a leading member network.

What this means in practice

GDV runs an AI Knowledge Assistant over tens of thousands of policy documents for its 400+ member insurance companies. Researchers find what they need in half the time, shadow AI use has dropped, and internal employee satisfaction is up.

A leading German association runs an AI Member Platform that combines chat-based discovery with traditional category filters, on Microsoft AI Foundry + pgvector – members can ask plain-language questions and still browse the full catalogue.

A leading member network runs a production RAG chatbot serving 1,000+ HumHub members, delivered in four sprints on n8n + Qdrant + GPT-4 via Microsoft EU. The whole system is operated by a team without developers.

Honest constraints

AI does not replace your operators or your experts. It removes the lookup, the routing and the first-draft work. The judgement call stays with a human, especially anywhere accountability matters.

Mandatory human review for outbound communication. Anything that goes to a customer, member or beneficiary should be drafted by AI and signed off by a human. We build that constraint into the workflow, not as an afterthought.

Hallucination is the failure mode to design against. Grounded RAG with citations, not free-text generation. If a system cannot cite its source, treat its answer as a guess.
